About the Band

The A.M.s are an eclectic indie duo separated by 1000 miles, rooted in piano, guitar, and upright bass. Their sound is woven from rock, folk, r&b, soul, classical, and world music, topped with Adrian’s powerful expressive phrasing and timbre, rounded out by Mariko’s lush and inventive harmonies.

In 2019 Adrian tuned Mari’s piano and asked if she wanted to play with him. She said maybe. A day later they connected, then started rehearsing together with the hopes of someday playing out. Before they ever got the chance, he moved to CA, and soon after COVID-19 shut everything down. But they kept playing.

She sent him lyrics. He sent back melodies with strummy and plucky bits. She returned the bounce with keys and harmonies. Now, they have an extensive catalog of songs across a variety of genres. In October of 2022 they released their first album, “Ignite the Sky” which predominantly addresses the journey of finding and meeting Mariko’s birth parents during COVID. Their newest single, a cover of Radiohead’s “No Surprises,” released in March, 2023. Their music is available wherever you stream music.
